Legal Protection Framework in Peru
In Peru, the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents is a serious crime penalized with severe imprisonment sentences (Penal Code, Art. 179 and amendments). General Tourism Law No. 29408 mandates all tourism service providers to sign the Code of Conduct and immediately report any act violating minors' integrity.
- Mandatory presentation of original ID documents for minors when checking into lodging establishments.
- Notarial or judicial authorization required for minors traveling without both parents.
- Mandatory immediate reporting to the Peruvian National Police (PNP) and MINCETUR.
